Admissions

Applying for a school place

Applications for a school place need to be made at various stages of a child's education Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Reception, Infant/Junior Transfers and Secondary.

If you do not have access to your own PC/Laptop, you can use them for free in any of our Libraries or One4All Centres. Failing that, we are more than willing to help at school.

Pre-nursery

All children are entitled to a part time Nursery place from the start of term following their third birthday. These places are provided strictly subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed at any school.

Nursery

All children are entitled to a Nursery place from the September following their third birthday.

Please note that children who are admitted to a Pre-Nursery class will not have an "automatic" right to continue their education within that school. A new application is required for entry to the Nursery class. There may be occasions when, due to oversubscription, it will not be possible for this transfer to take place.

Reception

Children start the Reception class in Infant or Primary Schools the September following their fourth birthday.

Please note that children who are admitted to a Nursery class will not have an "automatic" right to continue their education within that school. A new application is required for entry to the Reception class. There may be occasions when, due to oversubscription, it will not be possible for this transfer to take place.

Secondary

Children start Secondary School in the September following their eleventh birthday.

Please note that children who are going to Secondary school will not have an "automatic" right to continue their education within that school. A new application is required for entry to the Secondary school. These are to be complete in the September of year 6.

In Year Transfers (Moving schools during the school year)

If you decide that you would like your child to transfer from one school to another, please contact their present Head Teacher first to alert them of your decision. Should you wish to proceed with the transfer arrangements you should contact the School Admissions Team for advice in making your application to the new school.
